Morinaga was originally established in 1917 as Nippon Rennyu Co. Ltd. It was reorganized as Morinaga Milk Industry Co. Limited in 1949. The company employs over 3000 people worldwide.

In Pakistan, NutriCo Pakistan (Pvt) Limited [formerly Unibrands (Pvt) Limited] has been the sole distributor and marketer of Morinaga products since 1979.
